Azeri Missile Deal Denied

State arms exporter Rosoboronexport denied a media report on Thursday that said Azerbaijan had purchased anti-aircraft missile systems worth $300 million from Russia.

“We know nothing about this contract,” Rosoboronexport spokesman Vyacheslav Davidenko said. “Rosoboronexport has no information about deliveries of S-300 missiles to Azerbaijan and has no contractual obligations whatsoever in this matter.” He did not elaborate.

Citing Russian arms industry sources, Vedomosti reported that Azerbaijan last year signed a deal with Rosoboronexport to purchase two batteries of S-300 anti-aircraft systems.
