Cop Jailed in Metro Attack

Police Colonel Alexander Kurochkin was sentenced Tuesday to 3 1/2 years in prison for injuring a young woman with an air gun during a drunken brawl in the Timiryazevskaya metro station in March, Interfax reported.

Kurochkin was convicted of hooliganism and inflicting light injuries. He also broke the nose of an unidentified young man he was arguing with and tried to shoot him, but the rubber bullets grazed the man, wounding the young woman who was passing nearby.

Police said in March that Kurochkin started shooting after the young man sprayed him with mace.
