Woodstock Ties Russian Knot

SAUGERTIES, New York -- A Russian immigrant temporarily stole the show at Woodstock '94 Saturday by getting married on the stage.

Viktoria Sukhanov, 30, formerly of Moscow, tossed her bouquet into a crowd of cheering thousands when she married Maurice Methot, 37, at the 25th anniversary concert of the festival that celebrated peace, music, and love, but not necessarily marriage.

The couple had planned to wed in their hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, when their best man, Ivano Leoncavallo, an MTV news producer, told them he could not attend the ceremony because he was going to Woodstock. They decided immediately that it was the perfect venue in which to tie the knot. "I kept my dress in my backpack all day," said the bride.
