LONDON -- Stan Collymore became the first player to score a league goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford this season and Nottingham Forest was the first team to win there, scoring a 2-1 triumph and slowing United's title charge.


Forest moved up to fourth place after winning at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Collymore and England leftback Stuart Pearce. French striker Eric Cantona pulled a goal back for the champion but it was United's first home loss since early March. Cantona's header came off a corner from Ryan Giggs, returning after a six-game injury lay-off.


Leader Blackburn Rovers gained a 0-0 tie at next-to-last Leicester to open a 2-point lead atop the standings and third-place Newcastle also was involved in a scoreless game at Coventry, although Andy Cole missed a penalty.


Rovers now have 43 points from 19 games, United has 41, Newcastle 38 and Forest 35.


Also Saturday, South African striker Phil Masinga scored Leeds United's first two goals in a 3-1 victory at Arsenal and Tony Cottee netted all three as lowly West Ham eased its relegation worries by beating Manchester City 3-0.


On Sunday, Liverpool squandered a chance to cut Blackburn's lead atop the Premier League standings by gaining only a 0-0 tie in a tedious game at Chelsea. The home defense kept Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler quiet and the best chance fell to Chelsea, when Dennis Wise had a 25th minute shot palmed onto the post by Liverpool goalkeeper David James.


Fifth-place Liverpool now has 33 points from 19 games, 10 fewer than Blackburn.


Italian First Division


AC Parma reclaimed first place in the Italian first division Sunday with a 2-1 victory at Bari, while Juventus of Turin's six-game winning streak was snapped in a dramatic 1-1 draw with lowly Genoa.


All nine league matches kicked off 45 minutes late because of a players' association protest to press the Italian federation to come up with money for unemployed players and coaches.


When the games did start, midfielder Massimo Crippa put back a rebound for Parma's winner in the 77th minute. Parma's 9-4-1 record gives it 31 points, one more than Juventus (9-3-1).


Juve looked set to stay atop the standings for a second week, but Genoa sweeper Fabio Galante headed in the equalizer with one minute remaining and with his team playing a man down.


Fiorentina remained in third, with 26 points, after a 1-1 draw with Foggia. Lazio of Rome, a 2-0 winner at Internazionale of Milan, is another point back.


AS Roma slid one place to fifth, settling for a scoreless draw with visiting AC Milan, the three-time defending champions, which is in ninth place.


Dutch First Division


Leaders Roda JC Kerkrade extended their lead in the Dutch first division on Saturday when it beat Volendam 2-1 while champions Ajax Amsterdam was held to a 2-2 draw by lowly NAC Breda.


NAC midfielder Ton Lokhof denied Ajax both points when he snatched an equalizer in the dying seconds after Ajax looked to be coasting to a win.


It left Roda with 26 points from 16 matches, two ahead of Ajax but last year's champions have two games in hand.


Roda was given the ideal start when its top scorer Max Huiberts put it in the lead in the 10th minute. But 18 minutes into the second half it was all square, with Serbian striker Ivan Vukov beating the Roda goalkeeper. Nigerian striker Tijani Babangida Roda celebrated his return after a long layoff for injury with a goal nine minutes from time.

While Arsenal manager George Graham awaits the outcome of a Premier League inquiry into allegations that he improperly received a ?285,000 ($456,000) gift from an agent, former Glasgow Rangers and Liverpool coach Graeme Souness denied claims that he collected ?30,000 pounds in a similar way.


The tabloid The Mail on Sunday, which made the allegations against Graham last weekend, alleged that Souness, then manager of Rangers, sent his wife on a 750-mile (1,200 kilometer) round trip to collect ?30,000 in cash from an Israeli soccer agent. The paper says the cash was a gift arising out of Souness agreeing to buy two Israelis, defender Avi Cohen and goalie Boni Ginsburg.


Souness said the allegations were "completely untrue."
