Teen Smashes Sukova
Hingis needed only 45 minutes Tuesday to trounce 29-year-old Sukova 6-2, 6-1 and reach the second round of the $400,000 Porsche Grand Prix women's tennis tournament.
"That was the best match of my career, I hope it will continue like this," said Hingis, who has won junior titles at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Her next opponent will be Germany's Christina Singer, 26, who stunned fourth-seeded Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.
Sabatini, winner here in 1989, looked slow throughout the match and lost in two hours and five minutes against Singer, a local player who got into the tournament on a wild card and who is ranked 85th.
The quick victory over her opponent from the Czech Republic made Hingis' professional record 2-1.
