Teen Hijackers Nabbed

UFA, Central Russia () -- Security officials Thursday arrested two teenagers who hijacked a bus and demanded an airliner to take them to Israel or Syria, Itar-Tass reported.

The two boys, aged 15 and 16, commandeered the passenger bus in a suburb of Ufa, 1,000 kilometers east of Moscow, and ordered the driver to take them and their hostages to the airport, the agency said.

They showed airport officials what they said was a bomb and demanded arms, ammunition and an airliner to take them to the Middle East, threatening to blow up the bus if their demands were not met.

But the incident ended unexpectedly when the teenagers' attention was diverted by a woman passenger who began screaming that her baby was sick. Security officials used the diversion to capture the pair, and tie them hand and foot, Itar-Tass said.
