Strike at Komineft

MOSCOW -- Six workers of the Komineft oil company went on hunger strike over the weekend to demand payment of back wages, bringing the total number of hunger strikers to 13, Interfax reported Monday. The agency quoted Vasily Veriovkin, head of the Naftegazstroiprofsoyuz labor union, as saying that all oil and gas workers in the region backed the strikers' demands. Komineft's oil workers have not been paid 50 billion rubles ($25 million) in wages for January, February and March, Veriovkin said.
