AMMAN () -- PLO leader Yasser Arafat and Jordan's Sharif Zeid Bin Shaker signed an accord Thursday designed to guide future Palestinian-Jordanian cooperation, concluding more than a year of often tense negotiations.
The agreement's seven sections cover economic, cultural and political cooperation. A preamble was designed to end a bitter debate over custody of Islamic shrines in Arab East Jerusalem.
An improvement in Jordanian-Palestinian relations had been seen as a prerequisite for drawing new investment into Jordan or the West Bank
