PLO, Israeli Police Pact

The PLO and Israel have agreed on the size of a Palestinian police force for Hebron and continued secret talks to stitch together an agreement on controversial points blocking the resumption of peace talks.

A senior PLO official said Wednesday negotiations continued throughout the night on the two other issues the size of a foreign observer force for Hebron and the functions and command system for a Palestinian police force for Gaza, Jericho and Hebron.

He said the Palestinian police would be 100 strong, more than the Israelis wanted and less the PLO demanded. The PLO has dropped its original demand that Israel disarm Jewish settlers and dismantle the settlement.
