OPIC Seeks Manager

MOSCOW ) -- The U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation is looking for a new manager for a $300 million emerging market fund for Russia after investment bankers Lehman Brothers pulled out of the deal, an OPIC representative said Monday.

Lehman Brothers announced last week that they would not be participating in the NIS Major Projects Fund, citing failure to agree on the terms of a loan guarantee from OPIC. The U.S. government organization has pledged to guarantee 75 percent of the fund.

"It was simply a case of our timetables being different," Sidney Rubin, a spokeswoman for OPIC, said by telephone from Washington.
