Medvedev Vows Digital Vote

GORKI, Moscow Region ?€” President Dmitry Medvedev pledged on Wednesday to eliminate electoral violations from 2015 by setting up digital vote counting.

"The electronic system of ballot counting should exclude any outside interference, becoming the main guarantee of legitimacy," Medvedev told a meeting of Central Elections Commission members.

He said that equipping local election committees with electronic vote counting systems would be complete in time for the 2015 State Duma elections.

Only 5,000, or 5 percent of existing polling stations, will have electronic vote counting equipment this December, he said.
