Lesotho King Returns

MASERU, Lesotho () -- Five years after being deposed, Lesotho's King Moshoeshoe II will be reinstated Wednesday in a ceremony that many of the kingdom's people hope will signal a return to political stability.

After a 30-year reign, Moshoeshoe was deposed in 1990 by military rulers who installed on the throne his British-educated son as Letsie III.

Political analysts said Moshoeshoe's reinstatement could help bring stability, since it had been one of the main issues in the struggle for power between royalists and the government of Prime Minister Ntsu Mokhehle.
