Khasbulatov's New Life

MOSCOW () -- Tired of waging political battles, President Boris Yeltsin's one-time adversary, Ruslan Khasbulatov, has returned to his former teaching post at the Moscow Academy of Economics, said academy authorities.

A spokesman confirmed this week that Khasbulatov, whose book "World Economics" was published last year by the Insan Publishing House, was reassuming his duties as a lecturer.

Khasbulatov, former speaker of the disbanded Supreme Soviet, was among those imprisoned after the storming of the White House in October 1993. He was released in 1994 under an amnesty.

Later, he joined the ranks of the opposition to President Dzhokhar Dudayev in his native Chechnya, where he attempted to set up peace talks, before Russia's Dec. 11 military intervention.
