Hazing Not to Blame

MOSCOW () -- An investigation into the death of a Moscow soldier subjected to repeated beatings by other soldiers has concluded that he died from a hitherto undetected heart condition.


The case of Alexander Gordyushin was reported in The Moscow Times in July. Senior soldiers beat Gordyushin throughout his two months as an Interior Ministry recruit, with his last beating occurring just hours before his death, according to investigator's records.


But tests conclude that he had suffered a weak heart since childhood, which was aggravated by a sore throat, according to investigators
