Hata Eyes Comeback

TOKYO -- Former Japanese Prime Minister Tsutomu Hata is plotting a comeback, vowing to form a large and unified party by September.


Hata was forced to resign last month because his government lacked a working majority.


He called the current government of Socialist Prime Minister Tomiichi Muryama the product of an "irresponsible" compromise between the Socialist left and the hardline right, their coalition partners the Liberal Democratic Party.
