Feminist Unrepentant

STOCKHOLM (x) -- Feminist author Taslima Nasrin, threatened with death by Moslem fanatics in her native Bangladesh, came out of seclusion Thursday and promised to continue her fight against "fundamentalist insanity."

Nasrin, who arrived in Sweden on Aug. 10 in secrecy, was honored with the Kurt Tucholsky Prize.

"I have a dream, a dream of a world without inequality and oppression, where women could be strong in their own right, and enjoy dignity and independence," Nasrin said as she accepted the prize from the Swedish PEN club. It was her first public appearance since her arrival in Sweden.
