Farm Payments Put Off

MOSCOW () -- The Russian government is considering a plan to postpone the date for paying back this year's state credits to agriculture by 15 years, Itar-Tass quoted Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zaveryukha as saying Wednesday.

The credits, which fuel inflation and have been partly blamed for the devaluation of the Russian currency, are usually issued to pay for spring sowing and the fall harvest.

The government had already discussed the project to prolong repayment three times, and had prepared a draft resolution to be discussed by the State Duma, said Zaveryukha, who oversees the agriculture industry.
