Exchange Plan Denial

MOSCOW () -- The Central Bank has denied reports that only 68 banks will be authorized to take part in the exchange of old U.S. $100 bills for a new form of the U.S. banknote.

"All banks licensed to conduct hard-currency operations will participate in the exchange," said Yevgeny Ivanov, deputy director of the Central Bank's chief hard-currency regulation bureau. The commissions banks take for processing the exchanges will not be regulated, he said.
