End to Polish Dispute?

MOSCOW () -- A senior Polish official expressed hope Thursday that a dispute which has marred relations between his country and Russia would be resolved soon, but talks in Moscow produced no signs of an immediate breakthrough.

Wladyslaw Kaczynski, head of the Polish foreign ministry's press and information department, met Russian deputy foreign minister Sergei Krylov to discuss an incident in which six Russians were alleged to have been beaten by Polish police at a Warsaw railway station.

"It is bad that such an incident happened. For us it is a sad incident. But it should not hamper Russian-Polish relations," Klaczynski told reporters.
