Drexler Seeking Trade

HARTFORD, Connecticut () -- Clyde Drexler doesn't seem to care where he's traded. That's like Bob Dole getting ambivalent over his party affiliation.

"Preferably, I want to go to a contender," Drexler said Friday night, "but I really haven't thought about it at all. I just want out."

Drexler has spent his entire 12-year NBA career in Portland. There isn't an active player in the NBA who has been with one team longer than Drexler. But he has been unhappy since the Blazers cleaned out their front office last summer, when Coach Rick Adelman was fired, Senior Vice President Geoff Petrie resigned and several others in the organization were given pink slips.

He went public with his frustrations last week because the Blazers had attempted to unload him on the Miami Heat, in exchange for guard Harold Miner. Drexler said he finally vented his feelings because he was not told that the deal was in the works.
