Double-Dipper Quits

WARSAW () -- Polish Foreign Minister Andrzej Olechowski said Thursday he had resigned over charges that he violated a law banning government officials from receiving double salaries.

On Wednesday, Justice Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz published a list of 57 state officials, including Olechowski, who allegedly broke an old Communist-era law prohibiting them from having additional jobs.

Olechowski has been the chairman of Poland's biggest bank, state-owned Bank Handlowy SA for several years.
