BEIJING () -- A Shanghai newspaper published an October picture of Deng Xiaoping on Thursday, nearly a year after the last time China's aging senior leader was seen in public.
The photo, showing Deng, 90, wrapped in a blanket watching the fireworks on China's Oct. 1 National Day, appeared on the front page of the major newspaper Liberation Daily.
Chinese officials give virtually no information about Deng's life, except to deny rumors that he is critically ill.
