Cricket Star Retires

NEW DELHI, India ) -- Kapil Dev, who took a world record 434 wickets in 131 tests with his fast-medium outswing, announced his retirement, stunning cricket-crazy India.


Fans took to the streets in many Indian cities soon after the news broke. Some sobbed and some beat their chests in gesture of grief. In Calcutta, residents took out processions with Kapil Dev's photograph with marigold garlands and shouted "We Love You, Kapil."


"I am leaving with a happy heart after playing throughout my 17-year long career," Dev said.
