Coach Rejoins Zenit

MOSCOW () -- Pavel Sadyrin, the former Russian team manager who sparked a player rebellion that wrecked the team's World Cup chances, is to return to his former club Zenit St. Petersburg, Sport Express said Wednesday.

The president of Zenit, which is close to bottom of the first division, told the newspaper that Sadyrin would take over as head coach in November.

Sadyrin coached the side, then named Zenit Leningrad, to the Soviet championship in 1984 but lost his job shortly afterwards because of criticism by many players.

He joined CSKA Moscow and took them to the title in 1991.

Sadyrin became national coach in 1992 but last November several leading Russian players boycotted the side, claiming that he was arrogant and inexperienced.
