City Tops Tax Tables

MOSCOW -- Moscow city accounted for over 17 percent of Russia's total tax collection in the first five months of the year, bringing the state coffers 6.17 trillion rubles ($3.15 billion) out of Russia's total tax revenues of 35.2 trillion rubles during the period, a top Moscow tax official said Thursday. Dmitry Chernik, head of the Moscow city tax service, rejected reports in the press about a 40 percent tax evasion in the capital, saying at the press conference that last year the evasion in Moscow did not exceed 10 percent of a total tax collection.
