HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England -- Olympic and world champions Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent made light work of their first race at Henley Royal Regatta. The British pair, who have won the coxless pairs event at Henley twice in the past three years, won by two lengths in 8 minutes, 8 seconds, over opponents N. Aston and R. Woods of Royal Air Force Rowing Club. World silver medalists Detlef Kirchhoff and Hans Sennewald of Germany, Redgrave and Pinsent's main opposition, also cruised through the first round.
