Caviar Export Pact Set

The Russian caviar producer Kaspryba has signed contracts worth around $6 million with foreign companies to supply some 30 tons of black caviar in 1994, a company official said. "The price of the export caviar will be a minimum of $200 per kilo," Kaspryba export department head Vladimir Salnikov said in a telephone interview from Astrakhan. He declined to name the foreign buyers, except to say that they were regular customers. Kaspryba is the only enterprise that has a license to export black caviar from Russia's Caspian Sea region, according to the State Fishing Committee. According to Salnikov, last year Kaspryba exported approximately 30 tons of black caviar.
