Cash Pledge for Armenia

PARIS -- Aid donors pledged Tuesday to provide Armenia with $265 million in new financial assistance in 1995.

The new funds represent three-quarters of Armenia's new financing needs next year, according to a communique released by the World Bank.

The pledges were made in Paris at a meeting of Armenia's donor countries, held under the aegis of the World Bank.

The communique said the funds were pledged by France, Italy, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, the United States, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Monetary Fund.

Japan, Germany and the European Union said they were considering further financial support.

The aid group praised Armenia's efforts to redress its economy.
