New York -- Andre Reed and Pete Metzelaars each caught two Jim Kelly touchdown passes as the Buffalo Bills routed the Kansas City Chiefs 44-10 in a rematch of last year's American Football Conference championship game.


Both teams are now 5-3 and having up-and-down seasons after last year's AFC finale, won by Buffalo 30-13.


"We know we can turn it on," said Kelly, who was 14-of-22 for 184 yards Sunday. "I said in the locker room, 'We can't just get excited for these big games.'"


"We have to get off that roller coaster," said Kansas City coach Marty Schottenheimer. "We never got to a point in the game where we could execute our plan."


Joe Montana was 12-of-21 for 124 yards and was intercepted once for Kansas City before leaving for Steve Bono in the third quarter. Montana also fumbled twice as the Chiefs turned the ball over five times, leading to 20 Buffalo points.


Cowboys 23, Bengals 20. In Cincinnati, Ohio, Troy Aikman threw two touchdowns and Chris Boniol kicked three field goals, including a 38-yarder with five minutes left, as the Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys survived a scare with a 23-20 win over the winless Bengals.


Cincinnati (0-8) stunned Dallas (7-1) with TD passes of 67 and 55 yards from Jeff Blake to rookie Darnay Scott for a 14-0 lead in the second period. Blake made his first offensive start because of injuries to David Klingler and Donald Hollas.


"All I wanted was to earn some respect and I think I did that against the best team in football," said Blake.


Chargers 35, Seahawks 15. In San Diego, Natrone Means rushed for 104 yards and a TD to become the first Charger ever with four successive 100-yard rushing games and help deal the Seattle Seahawks (3-5) their fourth straight loss, 35-15.


The first-place Chargers (7-1) pulled two games ahead of Kansas City in the AFC West.


Chargers quarterback Stan Humphries left in the third quarter with a dislocated left elbow. Gale Gilbert replaced him and tossed two touchdowns.


Broncos 26, Browns 14. In Denver, John Elway threw two touchdown passes and Jason Elam kicked a pair of field goals as the Broncos beat Cleveland 26-14, ending the Browns' five-game win streak.


The Broncos (3-5) got their first win at home in four games this season. The Browns fell to 6-2.


Browns' quarterback Vinny Testaverde left the game in the second quarter after being dazed. Mark Rypien replaced him.


Dolphins 23, Patriots 3. At New England, Keith Byars scored a pair of touchdowns and Pete Stoyanovich kicked three field goals as the Miami Dolphins shut down Drew Bledsoe and beat the Patriots 23-3.


The Dolphins (6-2) remained in first place in the AFC East and handed the Patriots (3-5) their third straight loss.


Bledsoe, who leads the league with five 300-yard games, was intercepted three times and benched in the fourth quarter in favor of Scott Zolak. Bledsoe was 16-of-33 for 135 yards.


Raiders 17, Oilers 14. At Los Angeles, Jeff Hostetler's 11-yard touchdown pass to Tim Brown with 1:50 remaining lifted the Raiders (4-4) to a 17-14 victory over the Houston Oilers.


The Oilers (1-7) had a chance to tie but a 52-yard field goal attempt by Al Del Greco hit the crossbar as time expired.


Eagles 31, Redskins 29. In Washington, Eddie Murray's 30-yard field goal with 19 seconds remaining capped a wild fourth quarter in which the lead changed three times as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Redskins 31-29.


The Eagles (6-2) won their sixth in their last seven games. Washington (2-7) has lost six of its last seven. The defense forced Redskins rookie Gus Frerotte into two interceptions and a fumble.


Randall Cunningham had a rough start as Washington led 17-7 at the half, but he led three long scoring drives and finished 18 of 31 for 165 yards and a touchdown. Frerotte was 13 of 30 for 181 yards and three TD passes.


Vikings 36, Buccaneers 13. At Tampa Bay, cornerback Anthony Parker scored a TD for a third straight game and Fuad Reveiz kicked five field goals as the Minnesota Vikings (6-2) drubbed the Buccaneers 36-13.


Minnesota took advantage of five Buc turnovers. Tampa Bay (2-6) had given the ball up just eight times in its first seven games, second lowest in the NFL heading into the game. Craig Erickson and Trent Dilfer shared the quarterbacking for the Bucs.


Colts 28, Jets 25. At Indianapolis, Marshall Faulk rushed for 110 yards and two TDs on 24 carries to help the Colts overcome costly turnovers and score a 28-25 win over the New York Jets.


The Jets (4-4) recovered three Colts fumbles. Don Majkowski, making his first start at quarterback for the Colts (4-5), completed 14 of 22 passes for 159 yards with two interceptions.


Lions 28, Giants 25. At New York, Jason Hanson's 24-yard field goal at 6:43 of overtime gave the Detroit Lions their NFL-record third overtime win of the season, 28-25 over the slumping Giants.


Hanson field goals have won each of the three overtime contests for Detroit (4-4).


Detroit's Barry Sanders became the first running back of the season to top 1,000 yards, rushing for 146 yards on 26 carries.


Cardinals 20, Steelers 17. At Arizona, Greg Davis' 51-yard field goal 1:40 into overtime lifted the Cardinals (3-5) to a 20-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.


The game-winner was set up when Charles Johnson fumbled the OT kickoff and Arizona's David Merritt recovered at the Pittsburgh 32-yard line.
