Buchanan Launches Bid

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire () -- Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan has officially launched his second bid for the Republican presidential nomination, vowing to protect American jobs and Judeo-Christian values.

Buchanan, 56, formally announced his candidacy for the 1996 nomination Monday.

Buchanan lost the 1992 nomination to Bush, but won a relatively strong 37 percent of the vote in the New Hampshire primary, exposing Bush's political weakness.

A speechwriter for President Richard Nixon and senior aide to President Ronald Reagan, Buchanan is best known as the voice of the Republican right-wing on CNN's "Crossfire."
