Bohinen Tiff Slows Rovers

OSLO -- Lars Bohinen's debut for English Premier Division side Blackburn Rovers may be delayed because his contract has not been finalized, the news agency NTB said Friday.

Midfielder Bohinen, whose move from Nottingham Forest last week provoked controversy, had been expected to make his debut for his new club against Southampton on Saturday.

But the Norwegian international, who played in Wednesday's goalless draw against England, told NTB on Friday: "I am still not certain for the game, I am waiting for a message that everything is in order. I hope this will happen sometime on Friday."

Bohinen angered Forest bosses by invoking a clause in his contract which allowed him to join Blackburn for just ?700,000 ($1.10 million), even though Forest could have expected to get around ?2.5 million for him.

Kevin Keegan's Newcastle United travels to erratic QPR this weekend hoping for three more points to strengthen its hold on top spot.

Rangers have won three and lost five this term under the guidance of former AC Milan midfielder Ray Wilkins and its fans will be frustrated to see last season's star, Les Ferdinand, return to Loftus Road a Newcastle player.

Aston Villa, level on points with Manchester United but ahead on goal difference, hopes to profit from a home game against 10th place Chelsea while the Reds hope that Eric Cantona will be fit for the home game against cross-town rival Manchester City, which is last and has only one point from eight games. Cantona broke down with a knee injury after 18 minutes of a reserve game Saturday.

There'll be the best of the past and present on the field Sunday when Juventus of Turin and AC Milan do battle for first place in Italian soccer.

They are the two most-decorated clubs in Serie A, with 37 league titles -- including the last four -- plus numerous cups between them.

The teams' current rosters are stockpiled with international stars: the Italian side that finished second at the 1994 World Cup featured seven Milan players, while the current Azzurri are built around five Juve starters. (Reuters, AP)
