n MILAN, Italy -- The roof of a home for the elderly collapsed on a crowded dining room during breakfast Thursday, killing 27 people, officials said.
Investigators suspect leaking gas set off an explosion underground that rocked the foundation of the 9-year-old building and brought down the roof.
Seven people were reported injured in the collapse in a Milan suburb, said a Milan police official who declined use of his name.
