Last weekend, the Oriental Art Museum opened an exhibition of old photographs and ceramics from Turkestan, the part of the Russian Empire now split between the five Central Asian states. This photograph, taken around the turn of the 20th century, depicts four men from Bukhara, a city in present-day Uzbekistan, clad in velvet robes. Other items on display include works of pottery dating to the 10th century. "Turkestan in Ceramics and Old Photographs" runs to April 1 at the Oriental Art Museum, located at 12 Nikitsky Bulvar.
