New Military Church - Day trip

DAYTRIP - MILITARY - FAMILY FUN - MUSEUM

Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Moscowliving
A visit to the Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, "Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ", which only opened on 20 June 2020, is highly recommended. It is perfect for a day trip, as the church is located only 60km west of Moscow, at Patriot Park and it takes only 55min to get there, depending on the traffic.

The church itself is very impressive because of its sheer size, but also very worth seeing, because of the very unusual mosaic pictures on the church walls, which show soldiers and various battles, but also the variety of decorations and the details inside.

Apart from the church, you can visit a military museum that was built in a circle shape around the church, with a beautiful park.

Moreover, outside the museum walls, a battlefield was reconstructed that looks so real that you get the feeling to stand on a film set. The whole field is crossed by defence trenches, which are allowed to walk trough. Real tanks, old military airplanes and burned down houses, make the whole field look so real, that walking trough the defence trenches become a real adventure for the whole family.

If you need a break there is also a small café where you can buy food and drinks, but the selection is not big and the coffee is not too great. So if you’re picky, bring your own coffee & snacks.

Overall, it is a great day trip for the whole family and for military interested people.

Have fun while exploring and Enjoy!

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
