Mitzva Bar – The Only Jewish Bar in Moscow!

BAR - CLUB - COCKTAILS - FOOD - DANCING

What is the best bar in Moscow? With so many options to choose from, it is really difficult to say which bar is the best. What we can say is that with its unique style, customised cocktails and Israeli food, Mitzva Bar is definitely a strong contender for the title.

Yes, you heard right! There is actually no cocktail menu, as the bartender will whip you up a drink based on your own individual tastes and preferences. They have over 200 cocktails in their repertoire and will make suggestions based on the flavours and tastes you prefer! Of course, you can also choose from one of the classic cocktails, but we followed the recommendation of the waiter and we loved our drinks. Each drink costs around 660 rub, so there aren’t any nasty surprises when you get the bill.

The bar itself is divided into two different areas. The front part with the bar is quite cosy with a cabalistic style. In this area you can sit on highchairs and watch the bartenders working their magic and passionately mixing up the cocktails and various drinks.

The back part is dominated by big paintings on the walls and is perfect for dinner since it’s a little bit quieter. The food menu may be short, but the food itself is incredibly delicious. The chef, Mark Tov from Tel Aviv, has designed a great Israeli menu. Our favourite dishes were the lamb tajine with couscous, the stewed duck leg with spicy vegetables and the meze. We are pretty sure though that all the dishes are delicious, so do let us know which one is your favorite!

Mitzva Bar is a Jewish bar, which opened in May 2015. They see themselves not as a kosher place but rather as a place where old Jewish traditions and mysticism meet with high-end technology both in the kitchen and behind the bar counter. We love the passion they display for both cocktails and food.

This place is always packed and usually you won’t even get through the doors if you don’t have a reservation, so don't forget to make one before you go. But be careful, even with a reservation, the tables are usually only available for two hours.

Enjoy!

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
