Russian Nationalist Ex-MMA Fighter Freed After Jail Time for Brothel Raid

Vyacheslav Datsik Zamir Usmanov / TASS

A former mixed-martial-arts fighter and Russian ultranationalist serving time for attacking a brothel was released from prison early on Monday.

Vyacheslav Datsik, who fought under the nickname “Red-Haired Tarzan” and has a long criminal history, was sentenced in March 2018 to 3.5 years in maximum-security prison for unlawful intrusion, battery and disorderly conduct. He was detained in 2016 for storming a brothel, rounding up sex workers and forcing them to march naked through the cold streets of St. Petersburg.

“Datsik is subject to release from custody having served the sentence,” the St. Petersburg court system’s press office said on its Telegram app channel Monday.

It said a district court reversed the initial ruling less than a year into Datsik’s sentence because of an expired statute of limitations.

“Glory to the revolution,” the court system quoted him as saying ahead of the court decision.
