North Korean Diplomat Missing in St. Petersburg - Reports

St. Petersburg police are searching for an official from the embassy of North Korea who was last seen on the city’s Vasilievsky Island, the Interfax news agency reported Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, the first secretary of the St. Petersburg branch of the trade and economic relations embassy of North Korea approached St. Petersburg police, Interfax reported.

“He informed how a 40-year-old secretary at the embassy had left work in an embassy car around midday on July 1. He claimed that the missing man had not contacted relatives or colleagues,” a police source said.

An investigation has been opened based on the information, Interfax reported. As yet there has been no official confirmation of the investigation.
