Russian Police Detain 9 Alleged Armored Car Robbers

Moscow police have detained nine foreigners suspected of stealing about 20 million rubles ($390,000) in a series of attacks on armored vehicles transporting money around the city and surrounding region, state news agency TASS said Tuesday.

The suspects, all from Moldova and Tajikistan, were detained in the Moscow region town of Kotelniki while attempting to rob another vehicle, the report said, citing police.

Traumatic pistols, knives, bats, hammers and ski masks were seized from the suspects, the report said.
