Transportation Ministry Wants Domodedovo Airport Toll Road

Motorists traveling to Moscow's Domodedovo Airport may have to pay a toll to get there in future.

The Transportation Ministry in April asked state-owned road builder Avtodor to come up with a number proposals for installing a toll road, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported Tuesday.

A government official told Vedomosti that the cheapest option Avtodor came up with — at a cost of 10 billion rubles ($290 million) — would be to build a six-kilometer-long road connecting the M4 highway with the airport, though that project has not yet been approved.

The airport fears that a toll road could make it less competitive and has sent the ministry a note containing its observations about Avtodor's suggestions.
