Rosneft was a new addition to Millward Brown's top 10 of the most valuable oil and gas brands this year.

Marketing analysis firm Millward Brown has ranked three Russian oil and natural gas companies among the top 10 most valuable brands in the sector for 2014.

Gazprom came seventh in the rankings, published Wednesday by the agency, with a brand value of $6.2 million, while Rosneft finished eighth with $5.5 million.

Both Gazprom and Rosneft are state-run.

Privately-owned LUKoil, which is Russia's second biggest oil producer, was ranked 10th with a brand value of $4.7 million.

Rosneft was a new addition to the top 10 oil and gas companies this year.

U.S. energy giant ExxonMobil placed first with $19.7 million.

On Millward Brown's top 100 brands across all industries, Russia's Sberbank fell five places to 75th, even though its value remained consistent with last year.

Telecommunications company MTS saw a 14 percent increase in its value, and jumped two places to 80th in the rankings.
