Mexican Winter Olympian Hubertus von Hohenlohe doesn't always ski, but when he does, he does so in a suit designed to look like a mariachi band member.
Von Hohenlohe, who is descended from the royal family of a German principality, appears to be continuing his challenge to the Dos Equis spokesman as the most interesting man in the world by competing in his sixth Olympic Games in the flamboyant costume.
The ski suit features the black bolero, ruffled white shirt and red cummerbund traditionally worn by the Mexican folk musicians, the athlete told NBC.
Though von Hohenlohe, who is 55, did not finish in the top 40 of either the slalom or giant slalom events at the 2010 Olympics, he is known for his interesting outfits and told reporters in Vancouver, "I'm a Renaissance Prince in the snows of Canada, so please don't look at my time — just look at my styyyyyle."
Von Hohenlohe, who was born in Mexico City and will be the country's only Winter Olympian at Sochi, grew up in Spain and also has citizenship in Austria and Liechtenstein.
Besides skiing, the royal descendant is also a professional photographer and has taken up pop music after being inspired while befriending Andy Warhol.
One of von Hohelohe's suits during Vancouver was designed to look like a Mexican desperado.
