Leisure Park for World Religions Planned Outside Moscow

Authorities in the Moscow region plan to build a leisure park for major world religions in the hope of drawing large number of tourists, Kommersant reported.

The project, dubbed the "Park of Unity and Harmony," will include an Orthodox Christian church, a synagogue, a mosque and a Buddhist temple, as well as hotels, restaurants, cinemas and malls, Moscow region Minister for Investment and Innovations Denis Butsayev said last week.

The construction of the park will cover 2.5 million square meters in the northern Moscow Region, Butsayev said.

He did not specify the cost of the project and construction terms.

A "House of Russian Peoples," a flattened egg-shaped construction sprouting a tower in the form of a giant torch, will be built in the center of the complex, which will also include a museum of religions and a congress hall.
