Presidential aide Tatyana Golikova was confirmed as the new head of the Audit Chamber on Friday by the State Duma, with an overwhelming majority deputies voting in her favor, Interfax reported. Only five deputies voted against the former health and social development minister and two chose to abstain.
President Vladimir Putin proposed her as a candidate for this post on Sept. 9.
In her acceptance remarks Golikova promised that she will continue working along the policy lines set by her predecessor, Sergei Stepashin, Kommersant reported. She also promised to "give audit results in a timely manner and quickly react to requests from deputies."
The outgoing Audit Chamber Chief Stepashin received a medal from State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin on Friday for his efforts in developing parliamentarianism.
