Twenty-eight years ago today, on July 18, 1985, the Tetris computer game was created by Alexei Pazhitnov, a computer programmer at the Soviet Academy of Sciences. It is one of the most popular computer games in history and takes its name from the Greek word tetra, meaning four, as the Tetris blocks comprise of four component parts.
