One Killed in Funeral Drive-by Shooting

One person was killed and three injured in a drive-by shooting during a funeral in the North Caucasus, a police source said.

The shooting took place in Beslan, a city in North Ossetia, on Wednesday evening. A group of attackers, driving a Lada, fired shots from an assault rifle at people who gathered to pay their last respects to 40-year-old Alan Torchinov, gunned down on Wednesday evening in North Ossetia's capital, Vladikavkaz.

Initial reports said four people were injured, with no casualties. However, a police source later said that one of the injured, apparently a relative to the deceased, succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

"The three injured persons are also said to be in critical condition," the source said.

The attackers fled and the search for them is underway.
