Real Estate Deemed Best Way to Invest

Most Russians still think that buying residential real estate is the best and safest way to invest funds, but the actual return on investment is not high, Vedomosti reported, citing sociologists.

Last year, housing prices went up only 6 percent.

In order to make more money on real estate, property should be bought at the initial stage of construction, when prices are the lowest, experts said. After a building is completed, prices can go up by as much as 25 percent compared with pre-construction prices.

While real estate investors usually operate with vast amounts of capital, the market is also open for individuals who have less money. Several companies are now offering participation in funds where the entrance fee is relatively low and the interest rates are higher than those for bank deposits.
