LNG Incentives Mulled

Russia's Energy Ministry is considering introducing additional incentives, including lower export duties, for new projects to produce liquefied natural gas, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.

"Some incentives might be considered," Novak said.

LNG production must be encouraged because Russia faces the challenge of finding a niche on the global LNG market, the minister said.

"Our share of this market is too small. However, there is a niche for new supplies on the LNG market and we must occupy this niche," Novak said.
