Region to Spend $21M on Sports Facility Designs

The Moscow region has allocated 624 million rubles ($20.8 million) for architectural and engineering designs of 34 sports facilities to be built, according to a statement by regional authorities, Interfax reported.

The facilities eventually will be constructed based on five model project types.

"We have a lot of money allocated to build the sports facilities. Project design costs are very high, but with the five model projects for swimming pools, skating rinks and exercise facilities, this will allow us to save from 7 to 10 percent of the construction costs," said Moscow region official Oleg Zholobov.
