Inebriated Mother Stabs Son in Voronezh

Police on Friday detained a woman in the Voronezh region who stabbed her 3-year-old son to death while drunk and injured her 5-year-old son.

The 30-year-old woman also attempted to kill herself after the incident, stabbing herself in the chest with a knife, local investigators said in a statement.

The surviving child, who suffered severe injuries, and the mother were in a local hospital Friday, the statement said.
A criminal case has been opened against the woman on charges of killing a minor and attempted murder of two or more people. She faces up to life in prison if tried and convicted of the charges.
