Sollers to Produce Toyotas

Sollers-Bussan, a joint venture of Russian automaker Sollers and Japan's Mitsui, plans to begin commercial production of Toyotas in Vladivostok in the first quarter, representatives of Toyota and Sollers told Interfax.

"Production of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado at the Sollers-Bussan JV in Vladivostok will get under way in the first quarter of 2013," a spokesman for Toyota in Russia said. "The planned production volume is around 1,000 cars per month. All details of the project will be announced on the production start date."

A Sollers spokesman confirmed that commercial production of Toyota vehicles in Vladivostok was due to begin in January or February. He said Toyota production would total 25,000 cars per year.
